History -
The Columbia School of Oratory opened in August 1890 and has gone through many name and location changes through the years up until the present Columbia College Chicago. Other names include Columbia College of Expression, Columbia College of Speech and Drama, Columbia College of Drama and Radio, and Columbia College. From 1928 to 1944, Pestalozzi-Froebel Teachers College (PFTC) was an official sister school of Columbia College of Expression, with the two schools sharing resources and services. Columbia and PFTC retained their close affiliation through 1963, sharing administration, employees, curriculum, facilities, and two relocations.

Introduction
The Course Catalogs collection contains the course catalogs of Columbia College Chicago since 1893 to present, including some catalogs of the Pestalozzi-Froebel Teachers College due to its partnership with Columbia from the late 1920s to mid-1940s.

The Course Catalogs collection is arranged chronologically, with items starting in the same year being arranged alphabetically.

All physical materials and reformatted media must be viewed during a scheduled appointment time within the College Archives & Special Collections office. No materials are to be circulated unless otherwise consulted with the Archivist.

Collection’s Relationship with Columbia College Chicago
This collection was housed in the Office of the President of Columbia College Chicago but was not actively collected until the late 1990s. This collection was transferred to the College Archives upon its founding in 2005. Some of the catalogs have been photocopied and scanned while they were borrowed from other collections via inter-library loans. The 1893 catalog was purchased on ebay. Many of the Pestalozzi-Froebel catalogs came from the National Lewis Archives.

Separated Materials
2.60 cubic feet of duplicate copies of catalogs were discarded in a safe and secure manner.
1.68 cubic feet of collection material was transferred to other College Archives record groups including, RG 11.01 Course Descriptions, RG 11.02 Schedules, RG 11.05 Directories, and RG 08.10.01 Columbia 2.
