Columbia College Chicago was founded in 1890 by Mary A. Blood and Ida Morey Riley as the Columbia School of Oratory.

Introduction

The Course Descriptions collection contains addenda, bulletins, class schedules, and similar materials which document various descriptions of courses offered at Columbia College Chicago from the 1970s through the 1990s. In contrast to the Course Catalogs and Class Schedules, these documents were created inconsistently over the years and often serve as supplementary information to the catalogs.

The Course Descriptions collection is arranged chronologically.

Requirements for Researcher’s Access

All physical materials and reformatted media must be viewed during a scheduled appointment time within the College Archives & Special Collections office. No materials are to be circulated unless otherwise consulted with the Archivist.

Collection’s Relationship with Columbia College Chicago

The materials in this collection had previously been unsorted in departmental publications. Upon processing the Course Catalogs (RG 11.01) in Fall 2017, the deaccessioned course descriptions were transferred to created this sub-category.
