John R. Fischetti Collection, 1945-2003 (mostly 1945-1980)

Introduction

John R. Fischetti (1916-1980) worked as an editorial and political cartoonist for over thirty years and was employed by several prestigious publications including Chicago Daily News, Chicago Sun-Times, The New York Times, The New York Herald Tribune, and Stars & Stripes. This collection of Fischetti’s personal papers illustrates his professional work and creative process through his illustrations and concept sketchbooks.

Abstract

The Columbia College Chicago Journalism Department has published various newsletters and magazines since 1987, and a student newspaper, the Columbia Chronicle, since 1973. The majority of the collection is made up of Inside Journalism newsletters, dated from 1987 to 2007, and the student magazine known as Chicago Arts and Communication from 1991 to 1996 and Echo from 1997 to the present day.
